Bear Trail

After completing the Bobcat Trail, each Bear Cub Scout works toward his Bear Badge by completing twelve (12)
achievements in the following areas:

God
Country
Family
Self
For each three (3) achievements completed, a Bear Cub earns a red Progress Toward Ranks bead.

When the Bear Cub completes all twelve (12) achievements, he has earned his Bear Badge, a patch worn on the left
shirt pocket.

After earning his Bear Badge, the Bear Cub Scout can also earn Arrow Points (patches) by completing electives (10
elective project per Arrow Point).

The Academics and Sports Program is optionally available to the Bear Cub.

Academics and Sports Program
Tiger Cub, Wolf Cub, Bear Cub, and Webelos Scouts can also participate in the optional Academic and Sports Program.
Participation in this program leads to:

Belt Loops - each belt loop (a metal loop added to the uniform belt) is awarded in recognition of completing the first
three requirements in an academic area or sport.
Pins - each pin is awarded to a boy who chooses to continue his involvement in an Academics or Sports area and earns
the pin by meeting the appropriate requirements. Pins are worn on the Cub Scout Academic and Sports letter, which is
not part of the uniform.
Further information about this program is available online and in a print publication.
